This is a panorama stitched together from 10 or so photos, the scene that greets you as you exit MIT's media lab. (Cambridge, MA)

Time for a new camera that can take a wide angle lens! (Nice shot(s), btw.)

This year's Thanksgiving guests included Adam, Jen, me, Feed, Steph, and Dave. Some were unable to be present both physically and virtually. All did fairly poorly at the game of bowling. (Cambridge, MA)

I don't really like being photographed... unless my likeness is generated with sweet computer technology. Awesome!

Wii were there, I believe. I'm waiting for a console where you wear wrist and ankle bands or full-on motion capture gear and do karate for real. All this wand-waving is just a ploy (but, methinks, a much better ploy than the P3 -- I'd rather be playing games than shooting people in line at Best Buy just to get the console). Which makes me think Wii should have a game called "Grand Theft Console"...

We found a Thanksgiving puzzle. Oh Charles Wysocki, I hate to love you. (Cambridge, MA)
Blogger ewesa

mom says the puzzle tradition is dying out at grandma's. we must keep it alive!!

Blogger Kaahl

how ironic--i did a puzzle as well. 1000 pieces. I quite after a 30 minutes, took a 3 hour nap, and got up to put in the final piece.

Phatty Lowboy (with Mini Lowboy in the foreground), a lounge chair made from a 4' by 5' sheet of plywood, a robot overlord cutting machine, and no glue or nails. Design (without reach) by Rick Mclain, Simon Kim, and me. (Cambridge, MA)
Blogger mnlop

aha - so you really ARE in grad school doing work...and stuff

Blogger ewesa

I think it's very pretty. and if someone attacks whilst you are lounging, just lean back and send those pointy chair legs out to poke 'em through. it's a secret ninja chair. do the MIT people know that?!

Anonymous Anonymous

Ninja or lithotomy chair?
Both would suggest this was designed by men.

Blogger Kaahl

That is really excellent Tom--if you have an extra model, I will pay you $50.

One question: how is the torque factor? Take the top end and twist clockwise, the bottom, counter clockwise. Did you use 1337 skills to fit everything so tight that there is no give?

Blogger Tom

Being based on a motorcycle seat would also suggest it was designed by men...

I break the 16 by 9 format only for special occasions (this one over a year ago). (Redondo Beach, CA)
Blogger Monique

Tom,
You are perhaps the last person I would expect to appreciate and glorify an elderly woman's midriff. . . And here you are doing it outside of the 16x9 format.

MIT has changed you.

Tom, I'm waiting for you to put a picture up that would be suitable for me to tell you that Ted and I are engaged, but alas, I comment on this one of your blurry profile (which is actually quite artistic - nice job!). In case word hasn't traveled your way yet, consider yourself informed!

Blogger Monique

Eeeeeeeeeee! Allison's engaged!

This is why Tom is smiling all blurry-like.

This doesn't count as one of those photos where you travel somewhere and someone takes a photo of you standing in front of something local or historic. You know why? Framing! (Providence, RI)

That's the mustard gas we use to clear out the tourists.

Jeremy and Sara are in Japan. But maybe Japan isn't so much a place in the world as it is a place in the heart. (Everett, WA)

Jenni is back with a vengeance.
She is mightier than before.

She will conquer. Oh yes, she will be victorious.
