2008-07-25 045 striaght I wonder how long it will take before they recognize the value of the no-tie look at church.  For now I'll have to try to contain it about town.  Jenni's dress is pretty OK as well.  (Seattle, WA)

Blogger Katie

I'd love to sit in one of those chairs. It would make the person who decided to set them all out there feel better. Plus, they're just cool.

John heartily agrees with no-tie. It must be practiced regularly in order to infiltrate the culture.

What is that building behind you?

Blogger mom

We need some red chairs for our lawn; the building looks all sculpture-y; Jennie and Tom look sculpture-y, too. And fine, of course!

Blogger skim

Is that your (sweet) church? they've done some terrible things to the exterior of the saarinen chapel this summer.

And I think your no-tie look is trumped by Jenni's belt clasp, sorry.

Blogger Tom

And now for the reveal... we are at the Seattle Olympic Park Sculpture Garden (Simon, I wish our churches looed more like that, but no).

Blogger Joe and Joanne

You're finally back in Seattle!
Oh I love it, the "no tie" look should definately be IN.
I will be seeing you in U1 this Sunday!

Blogger Kaahl

You are in good company. Ahmedijinad doesn't wear a tie because he thinks it is a symbol of Western imperialism .... But tie-less is cool, providing you have a heavily starched collar, and copious amounts of chest hair...

Blogger Monique

I'm against no-tie.

Ties are hot. Especially when they compliment the lady's outfit.

2008-07-08 040 I have learned for myself that Canada exists.  I will miss my Massachusetts license plates, by the way - I love their retro simplicity. (Canada)

Blogger Liz

I have never doubted the existence of Canada...Delaware, however, is a different story. Can you provide any photographic evidence of Delaware?

Blogger Tom

So true about Delaware, it's like, is it even a state? I home taught someone from Delaware a year ago, but that's all I've got to go on.

Blogger mom

Awww, Canada's cute!

Blogger skim

That looks suspiciously similar to my parents' 'neighbourhood'. Without the powerlines in the distance.

ah, Canada

Blogger Hsquared2

This looks awfully like Iowa to me.

Blogger Joe and Joanne

Tom - Canada looks beautiful! Did you and Jon drive through there for cheaper gas prices (?) or just for the enjoyment of seeing beautiful Canada! Great pictures on your blog!
Are you in Seattle yet?

Blogger Katie

I love that half of the road is paved and the other half is not... and that you can stop in the middle of said road to take a picture, without disrupting traffic.

2008-07-04 Fireworks July 2008 006 I don't know who originally decided it was a good idea to synchronize fireworks to music.  At least in Boston they don't use that truck-selling "I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free" song.  I'll know I'm free when I never have to hear that song again. (Boston, MA)

When I was little some guy got stabbed on the corner of my family's blanket while we were enjoying the fireworks/Boston Pops.
